Sailing is a fantastically diverse sport, with activities to suit everyone.

The RYA National Sailing Scheme has been designed to help you enjoy whichever aspect of the sport that appeals to you.

All the courses in the scheme are currently taken in a dinghy. Courses are generally run on weekends but can be arranged at other times for small groups or private tuition, please ask for details of group discounts.

Llandegfedd Sailing Club


We are home to Llandegfedd Sailing Club. The club provides racing for the more experienced sailors, as well as ongoing coaching and development for sailors from the age of 8. Racing is normally on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings in the summer. Membership of Llandegfedd Sailing Club allows you to:Join in races

Beginners Sailing Courses


Introduction to Sailing

A two and a half hour session offering an introduction to sailing dinghies. The session will begin to show you the basics needed to helm and crew with an instructor on board. This is a fun session that can lead on to other sailing courses if you want to progress. Or just to try out a new sport that may lead to a new hobby or lifestyle. Minimum of one participants required per session.

Level 1 – Getting Afloat (Start Sailing)

An introduction to the sport, covering the minimum knowledge required to get afloat under supervision.

Level 2 – The Foundations of Sailing (Basic Skills)

Developing the skills to sail independently (two-day course). £200 per person or £360 if two adults book together.

Level 3 – Better Sailing

A two-day course to consolidate basic skills and improve techniques learned in Level 2. This also includes an introduction to the advanced modules.

Sailability

Sailability is the RYA’s national programme for disabled people who want to go boating regularly. We are one of 200 locations across the UK. Sailability is #MoreThanSailing. Sailors enjoy the outdoors, feel freedom on the water, are active, learn new skills, and build confidence. It’s the perfect activity to feel tranquillity and freedom on the water or progress your skills and become competitive. Our RYA Sailability sessions will introduce young people and adults with disabilities to sailing. The sessions we offer will take participants from complete beginner to competent sailor or just come along and have fun.

Junior Sailing

All of our sailing courses for juniors are RYA recognised, certified courses. Weather conditions can influence participants’ achievement but given reasonable conditions complete beginners will attain the following stages depending on which course they choose:

Dinghy Park


Our Dingy Park is conveniently located next to the Watersport Centre.

Here you can buy berths to store your craft throughout the year. We have 150 storage births, so booking is subject to availability.

Annual Storage – £100 from March to February (does not include access to water).

Seasonal Storage – £80 from March to October (does not include access to water).

Winter Storage – £50 from November to February.
