Our popular RYA Powerboat courses are designed for the training needs of both recreational and professional powerboat operators alike. On successful completion of the course here at Llandegfedd Lake you can apply for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) available through the RYA.
This is a requirement of many countries even if only visiting for a holiday.
This is a two-day introduction to launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer. You will learn about everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. You will also learn close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. The course is 80% practical with 20% theory. We are an inland body of water with no tides so this part of the course is taught on land. After the course you will be competent to helm a powerboat and will be able to apply for an International Certificate of Competence. The minimum course age is 12. Anyone under 16 will have their licence endorsed by a person over 18. £200 per person.
